Dancenet Sweden is a democratic and informal network that works to spread and promote contemporary dance in Sweden. Dancenet Sweden brings Swedish and international choreographers and companies on tour in order to strengthen the status and reach of dance, both artistically and audience-wise. The network consists of partners such as organizations, institutions, municipalities and county councils.

 

 

Dansens Hus in Stockholm functions as a hub in the Dancenet Sweden network and a guarantor of quality. Here, a Dancenet Sweden producer and technical co-ordinator work. Touring is Dancenet Sweden’s main task, however, the network also offers residencies and arranges seminars, continuation courses and other activities promoting knowledge about dance.

Dancenet Sweden aims to be a practical tool for the cultural policy that promotes the existence and development of dance in the Swedish cultural arena. The overall goal is to provide professional dancers and choreographers access for their art through the touring opportunities offered by the network. 

 

In the intersection between the professional dance world’s need for production possibilities and the audience’s and arranger’s demand for new dance experiences and knowledge about dance, Dancenet Sweden strives to promote independent dance on several levels. Three important objectives are: to be a platform for discussion about the opportunities and problems of work to promote dance; to make it possible for municipalities and regions to select their repertoires themselves, and to establish dance locally and support its renewal.

 

Dancenet Sweden is paving the way for dance to reach those places and regions that seldom – or never - arrange dance guest performances today. Dancenet Sweden is guided by the values of breadth, quality and consistency in its work to spread contemporary dance in Sweden.
