Dancenet Sweden’s mission is to – with quality, consistency and breadth – strengthen the status of professional dance in Sweden, for both artists and the audience.
Dancenet Sweden’s operations consist of touring, residencies and different forms of activities to promote dance knowledge. Each year at least eight different productions go on tour. One of them is created and produced in residence at one of the partners. In order to increase knowledge about dance as an art form, different types of activities to promote dance knowledge are carried out, including lectures, performance introductions, seminars, workshops, competence development, etc.
Work is carried out in a democratic, non-bureaucratic network of equal, independent partners that are firmly established in different parts of the country. The partners are affiliated with different organizations such as municipalities, county councils, regions and non-profit organizations.
Each partner is responsible in part for and loyal to the network, which means that the partner has to fulfil certain mutual requirements and criteria such as the following:
- to participate in the network’s meetings and comply with group decisions
- to commit to purchasing at least 4 productions, including being responsible for all practical arrangements related to the production on a local level.
- to be prepared to host Dancenet Sweden’s resident operations.
- to participate in the development of all peripheral activities and dance-knowledge enhancement, as well as to work for the competence development of own employees.
- to have access to a stage that is suitable for dance guest performances and recognize the need to necessary technical investments locally.
